On the slopes, St Anton skiing and snowboarding sports approximately 130 runs and 280km of pistes – skiers and snowboarders can rest assured of plenty of challenging red and black runs, extensive off-piste skiing and the occasional relaxed family run. The skiing in St Anton is probably best suited to experienced and advanced skiers, whilst beginners and intermediates will probably feel more at home on the slopes of the neighbouring resorts Zürs (15km) and Lechs (20km).
For families and kids, Pettneu am Arlberg is a small but stunning ski area set uniquely amongst woodland around 7km from the town centre of St Anton. Beginners and intermediate skiers of all ages will find 15km of sculpted runs in a snow-secure area, guaranteeing good skiing, whatever the weather. For kids, there is a dedicated children’s area with a playground and Marchenwiese (fairy-tale meadow). This season, the skiing starts on 27 November 2009 with the St Anton Ski Open 2009 which runs over the weekend of 27–29 November, sponsored by Audi.
